Baal Perazim Lord of the Breakthrough!

The spring of 2019 brought one of the most devastating floods in the history of the United States. Flood waters tore through the land with a force that was almost inconceivable. Torrents of water and blocks of ice smashed through all barriers. These mighty rushing waters found every weakness in the dams and levees designed to prevent flooding. Nothing could stand in its path of these powerful waters!

David compared the power of our Mighty God, to the break through waters of a flood when He came to David's defense against powerful enemies seeking to destroy him! He named the place of victory "Baal Perazim" as a remembrance of what God had done. Baal Perazim, the LORD of the Breakthrough, is a Hebrew name for God. Its meaning is rich with visual imagery. While we think of flood waters in terms of their destructive effects, God’s power is often released in our lives to bring healing and restoration.

There are times when our only hope in a situation is for the LORD to enter in a miraculous way! These are times when there is absolutely no other direction from which deliverance may come! Baal Perazim, our Mighty God is our hope and deliverer when the enemy comes in like a flood and we are helpless to stand in the face of the onslaught. Isn’t it comforting to know that God is the God of the Breakthrough and the Possessor of the gaps and weak places in our lives?

I have been meditating on this name of God and praying for breakthroughs in several areas of my life over the past few months. I find studying God's names and His character gives me greater faith and direction when I pray. Recently, I met with a group of believers to pray for breakthroughs for several individuals and we used this study to help us focus our prayers. It was a powerful time of intercession!

I have posted the study of "Baal Perazim" in the Names of God section of the "Downloadable Resources." I pray this study will bless you and equip you for prayer as you gain a greater knowledge and faith in our mighty and loving God who seeks to fill all of our vulnerable places with His mighty presence!
